Maria De Jesus's story

Maria de Jesus is a young 26 year old housewife and farmer with three children. The oldest attends elementary school and the others are still too young. [Maria] has an elementary school education and her parents made a great effort to so that she could go to school, despite their limited financial resources. She and her husband raise vegetables (potatoes) and this is their main source of income for paying household expenses such as schooling, medicine, clothing, and restricted medicine. They own the land they work on, thanks to inheriting it from her parents. It’s close to their home and they walk there daily. She sells her products to different buyers and intermediaries in the market.

Her dreams and goals are to be able to expand her potato crops, buy more land, and also upgrade it by adding a drip irrigation system so that the roots and soil remain healthy. In this way she will be able to strengthen her parenting of her children, increase her income and attract more customers. She is asking for a loan through COMIXMUL to buy supplies such as fertilizer, seedlings, insecticides, and other things to maintain and help her potato crops.
