Turqueza Group's story

Communal bank “Turqueza” will start its first cycle with Pro Mujer, in the focal center of Los Andes. This group is composed of eight members and run by a board, of which Elena is the president. The group’s members have different activities, such as a grocery store, perfume sales, tools sales, sweaters sales, potatoes sales and clothes sales.

The loan they are requesting will be beneficial for micro entrepreneurs like Elena. She says this is the first time she works with Pro Mujer, and joined invited by a friend who is a member. Elena sells perfumes and says that she started a year ago when a friend taught her how to find the right contacts to run the business.

The loan she is requesting is to buy perfumes. She will buy them from wholesale distributors in the department of La Paz, and then sell them upon request. This activity helps her to receive an income to support her family. She is married and has a son. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the health department.
