A loan of $1,025 helped to buy cattle.

Amidou's story

Born around 1980 in Diendio, a village in the rural town of Kadiana (a subprefecture in Mali's third administrative region), Amidou continues to reside in Diendio with his wife and three children as a traditional family unit. Amidou quickly became interested in money-making businesses, notably the buying and selling of cattle. He is highly sought-after at the market in Kadiana, especially during festival days. With his nine years of solid experience within this field, he collaborates with Soro Yiriwaso to increase his business funds in order to satisfy his ever-expanding list of customers. This will be his second loan, after having fully paid off the first.

Amidou plans to use this loan to buy cattle. He supplies cattle farmers in neighboring villages. He accepts payments cash-in-hand, yet sometimes with credit, at the marketplace where the majority of his customers are male. Amidou hopes to see a monthly profit of 150,000 CFA, which will be used to provide for his family, pay back the loan and reinvest in his business.
