Mary's story

Mary lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with five children and all are in school. She also takes care of additional family members (sister and old parents). She operates a pub in a shop that she rents. She sells her products on a retail basis. She has been in business for the last 10 years and works six days a week. She has requested a loan of Uganda shillings 1,200,000 from MCDT – SACCO to buy more jerrycan of local brew, crates of beer, soda, and local gin. Her major business challenges are seasonality and defaulters. Her goals and aspirations are to own a fully stocked pub and build rental houses. She lives in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include medications, school fees, and food.
