Gocha's story

Gocha is a 31-year-old married man. He lives with his wife, Iamze, and 4-year-old son, Vika. Iamze and Vika are internally displaced persons and get a pension of 28 GEL each. Gocha is involved in the trading business. He purchases dishes in Kutaisi and sells them among the villagers. He requested a loan to purchase stock, such as plates, cups and souvenirs, but Gocha lacks access to capital markets and financial institutions to obtain credit for his business, as they require a stable income. The Start Up program created by Kiva and Credo enabled him to get a loan of $900. With this loan he will purchase stock to expand his business, which will increase his income, and his wife will help him. With the increased income Gocha will provide better living conditions for his family.
