Ama is a widow and has four children. Even though she did not receive any formal education, Ama is a successful businesswoman. She sells provisions in Asebu (near Cape Coast). She has been actively involved in this business for about four years. As the sole breadwinner in the family, Ama uses her income to provide for the entire family. She will use the loan to purchase increased amounts of provisions, thus aiding her to improve her overall sales.
With the new profits from her expanded business, Ama plans to further diversify the type of products that she sells, hence adapting to changing customer preferences.
