Nyakanyinya Group's story

Kellen is a member of the Nyakanyinya group. She has been a member of the Nyakanyinya group for a long time and says she has benefited a lot from the group since the group members guarantee her whenever she needs loans from UGAFODE Microfinance. She is proud to belong to the group and is in the farming business which she has done since 2000. She works on the farm for an average of seven hours per day and she also does trade which is her other source of income. She does the business in her local cell of Nyakanyinya and she started the business with a motive of getting money to help her earn a living. She would like to use the money (six hundred thousand shillings) to buy fertilizers and produce and she has hopes of buying a big piece of land for her agriculture business in the near future. She says infertile soil and weather changes are her main challenges but she has hopes that they will be overcome with time.
