A loan of $1,375 helped to buy chickens at wholesale.

Julia's story

Julia, 60, is an independent woman living in the company of her three children who she cares for in her parents’ house. Since she was a girl she started to work in the fields but currently her children motivated her to start a business buying and selling chicken meat in the capital. She started the business two years ago and does very well because her daughter who lives in the nation’s capital helps her. Her work consists in raising chickens in an ample space she set aside at home to do so. She feeds them until they mature and when they are mature she travels to Lima to sell their meat. She goes there once a month because movement is constant and she needs much working capital.

This is her first Kiva loan and she feels grateful for the financial support she’s getting to continue forward. She also commits to make her payments punctually. Julia will use the 3,800 soles to buy several chickens to stock her business.
