A loan of $1,100 helped to buy fabric, thread, elastic bands, and other items.

Erlinda's story

Erlinda, who is 61, is married to Silvio and has three adult and independent children. She currently works just for herself and her granddaughter, whom she is raising in her home. Erlinda works making different styles of sheets, as well as some pillow cases, slipcovers, and full bedding sets. She works in a small sewing shop she has set up in her home.

She has been in this business for over twelve years. Sometimes she gets help from her daughters or her granddaughter, since on the weekends she goes out to offer her products to friends, neighbors, relatives, and any customers who are interested in high quality bedding sets at a very good price. She enjoys her work because it allows her enough time to tend to her animals and plants, since one of her favorite passtimes is growing flowers in her garden. She has many plans for the future because she wants to keep growing and making her business prosper.

This is her fourth loan through Kiva. She is very happy to know she has the financial backing to keep moving forward. She also promises to pay her installments on time.

She will use the requested amount of 3,000 soles to purchase materials to keep working, such as fabric for sheets, thread, elastic bands, and other items, so that she can increase production.
