Luz Elena

Luz, a sus 39 años de edad es madre de 3 hijos y vive en uniòn libre con su compañero sentimental. Su vida productiva la ha dedicado a laborar en diferentes empresas alternando con la venta de mercancìa, especialmente artìculos de papelerìa, con el fin de complementar los ingresos familiares. Desde hace 3 años se encuentra desempleada y por falta de oportunidades laborales le ha sido difìcil emplearse, por lo que decidiò retomar nuevamente la venta de mercancìa obteniendo buenos resultados, gracias a ella hace 4 meses montò su negocio propio en un local comercial, allì ofrece productos de detalles y papelerìa en general, de esta manera ha logrado generar ingresos suficientes para aportar a la economìa de su hogar. La cliente es una mujer luchadora, activa, emprendedora y tiene muchos deseos de seguir progresando; ésto la motiva a solicitar el apoyo del crédito para invertirlo en la compra de surtido al por mayor (marcadores, cuadernos, lapiceros, cintas, entre otros), con esto tendrá variedad de productos disponibles para ofrecer a sus clientes, satisfaciendo las diferentes necesidades; esto se reflejará en el incremento de las ventas y por ende los ingresos que recibe.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
