A loan of $1,200 helped to buy building supplies.

Santos Cristina's story

Santos, 53, only completed 6th grade. She’s single and has two daughters (29 and 25 years of age) who no longer live with her and have formed their own homes.

She’s worked for the local military detachment for 25 years as a caregiver preparing the soldiers’ meals; she’s worked for a long time. She learned this activity from her mother who also worked for the military detachment as a caregiver. The distance she covers to get to her work is about one kilometer and her schedule is 6am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

The loan will be used to buy a truckload of sand, five quintals of iron, 50 sacks of cement, one truckload of gravel, 500 bricks and to pay labor costs to add a bedroom to the house because the space they are living in is too small.

Her dream is to continue making home improvements, to replace the roof, replace the floor and doors. She hopes to complete the house well for her children.
