A loan of $1,300 helped to buy a motorcycle.

Melvin Eli's story

Melvin, 36, only completed third year of high-school. He’s married and father of two children (a 15-years-old girl and 14-year-old boy). They live with him and are attending public school. He’s worked for the city for about six months providing public safety in a unit. He used to provide his services to a supermarket chain. Added all up, he has 15 years’ experience providing public safety services. He learned from a brother who is also a security agent. The distance he covers to reach his place of work is about 2 kilometers from home to city hall. His wife helps out making and selling chicken tamales. His security job with city hall happens on various shifts. They are 6am to noon and 1pm to 4pm and a night shift of 6-10pm. The loan will be used to buy a motorcycle that he’ll use to get from home to work. Buying the motorcycle will allow him to get around more quickly. He also stated that his parents live far away and they are elderly and he visits them quite often. His dream for his family is to continue building his house adding more bedrooms to it.
