Anabela's story

Anabela is 20 years old. She is single and lives in the small town of La Guadalupana, in Chaquijyá, in Sololá, Sololá, along with her parents and four siblings. They all work together to support the family.

She is a hardworking person and currently works in agriculture, planting thyme on parcels of land owned by her family that are just a few steps from their house. She’s learned this from her parents since she was a child. She now works half the day and spends the other half studying to be a primary school teacher. She has been working independently in agriculture for 10 years, helping her parents economically so that she could finish her last year of high school. This was how she decided to start her own crop and make it her main source of income.

She has seen that her crop generates a good income. So, she wants to expand cultivation by requesting a loan of GTQ 4,500.00 (Guatemalan Quetzales) to buy tomillo seeds and organic fertilizer. She needs these for planting so she can have successful sales and improve her income, along with her family.

Her dream is to continue expanding her crop and helping her family improve its living conditions. She also wants to support her siblings so they can continue studying and finish their academic studies.
