A loan of $500 helped to buy a couple of pigs and to look after the animals and improve their living conditions.

Virgilio's story

Virgilio is 62 years old. He is an enterprising, humble and very hard-working person who makes a living growing basic grains. He also looks after domestic animals and has a couple of cows. This all provides him with an income to support his family. Virgilio is also very dedicated to his community and its development and he is a part of the local council. Virgilio receives help with the work at home and looking after the animals from his youngest son, his wife, and his two daughters. Virgilio has been working in farming from a very young age with his father and, since then, he always had the idea of having animals that were profitable to raise and sell. With this he would be able to cover some household costs. When he married, Virgilio decided to buy a couple of pigs to fatten up and sell, so as to have an extra income, and without spending too much more. He now has some 40 years experience raising pigs and hens. This loan will be used to buy a couple of pigs and to look after the animals and improve their living conditions. Virgilio is taking out this loan with the objective of having a higher income at the end of the season. He is grateful to "Fundación Campo" and for the support provided to cover the necessary costs of increasing his herd. Virgilio hopes to continue working with the organisation so as to see his community develop. Virigilio is thinking about taking out another loan in the future so as to better establish his crops and to continue raising pigs. He may also try other work which will provide him with an income in order to support his family.
