PUCALLPA, Peru / Fish Selling

A loan of $375 helped to buy fish wholesale.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda is 53 years old and is married to Rómulo with whom she has four children aged 30, 21, 15 and 11. She has her own house and lives alongside her husband and children. Yolanda sells fish for a living. She leaves the city's main port early in search of bigger and fresher fish. From here she then hits the road, where she has clients that are always waiting in order to buy her fish, which she always sells at a good price. She has been doing this job for 10 years and works alone. She hopes to be able to consolidate sales even more and have a shop selling both fresh and dried fish. This will be her second loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the financial help that she receives in order to continue her work. She promises to pay her dues in a timely manner. With the amount requested (S/.1000 soles) she will buy fish wholesale in order to be able to continue with her work.
