A loan of $1,450 helped to buy a vehicle to carry the milk.

Abbas Ali's story

Abbas is 41, living along his family in the rural area of Lahore, Pakistan.

He is a milk dealer, providing milk in the urban area to milk sellers. He uses his vehicle to carry the milk from one place to another. He has been selling milk for many years, and getting sufficient income to run his house. He has many buffaloes to milk in large quantities, but he has to sell the milk on the same day, otherwise it loses its freshness and he does not have any source for milk preservation.

Now the vehicle for carrying the milk is not working, due to overloading and the rough surface of land in the rural area. His vehicle is totally damaged; it is unable even start. He is renting a vehicle, and he paying a daily fare for renting. He cannot buy a new vehicle because recently he has purchased two more buffaloes.

Abbas wants to buy a new vehicle to carry the milk and save on the vehicle rental costs. Therefore, Abbas requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner, BRAC Pakistan, so that he could buy a vehicle to carry the milk.

Abbas is very thankful Kiva and to its field partner BRAC Pakistan; he seems tension-free now.
