Siguidia Group's story

Siguidia Group is an association of women from the Koko district of the city of Koutiala. They are all married and living in large traditional families with their husbands, children and other relatives. Their average age is 33 years old, and they each have at least four children. This group of women sells diverse goods, such as fabric, prepared foods, peanut paste, condiments, etc.. In order to increase the size of their operations, the members have decided to join the loan program of Soro Yiriwaso. They are on their first group loan.

Aicha is a Siguida Group member, shown seated in the center of the photo. She plans to use her loan to buy packages of fabric, sheets, curtains, and blankets. She purchases these fabrics at the large Burkinabé market. She sells her products at retail and for cash from her home and at the market to a diverse clientele.

While other members of the Siguidia Ggroup hope to earn an average income of 155,000 Francs CFA each during this cycle, Aicha hopes to earn 170,000 Francs CFA. In addition to the repayment of loans, they use part of their income to meet personal expenses and increase their business capital.
