A loan of $375 helped to buy vegetables and fruits such as plantains, lemons, and passion fruits.

Emelda's story

Emelda is 40 years old and the mother of six children whom she raises and educates with the help of her husband, in the house they own. Emelda's source of income is selling local fruits and vegetables. She leaves early for the main port of the city in search of the best plantains, lemons, passion fruits, and grains such as corn, rice, beans, and other things that she will be able to sell. She sells her products in the front of her house, where she has put up a table with everything she has to offer her passing-by clients. She has been working like this for eight months and it is going very well. During the time she has been running this business she has learnt many things, and the experiences she has gained during this short period of time have taught her to be more careful with some products and to invest more in others that have a higher demand during certain periods. This time she is requesting 1,000 PEN. She is grateful to those who make this loan possible, because it will make her feel more confident in progressing with her business. She pledges to make her repayments on time. She will use the loan to buy vegetables and fruits such as plantains, lemons, and passion fruits.
