Palomas (Flat) Group's story

Palomas (Flat) is the name of a small group of happy and enterprising women. Each of them partakes in a business activity to improve their quality of life. They are located in a fishing region as the edge of their community meets Temaxcal Lagoon. Fishing is the source of employment for many locals.

Rosalia is one of the members. She is 44 years old, married to Miguel and has one adult daughter who works. Miguel works as a bricklayer. Rosalia recounts that she always enjoyed work. It was eight years ago that with the support of her family she started to sell shoes, make her own money and contribute to the household expenses. She sells from her house in a little corridor where they covered a window to display the shoes to her friends, clients and neighbors who come to buy.

Rosalia will use this loan from VisionFund to help her buy a variety of shoes to continue with her sales. She hopes that with this investment her business will prosper and her profit increase so she can offer a higher standard of living to her family.

The other members of the group are: Martha who sell tamales, Zeferina has a mechanic shop and Ana Maria sells clothing.

In this group: Martha, Zeferina, Rosalia, Ana Maria
