Elina is married woman with four children who all attend school. She lives in a rental house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
For the past four years she has operated a retail shop and a green grocery business. She sells to her neighbors and passersby. She mentioned seasonality and theft as her major challenges. Elina dreams of establishing a wholesale shop in the future.
With the 80,000 KES she wants to purchase soap, wheat flour, bread, milk, soft drinks, rice, beans and cooking oil for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
