A loan of $375 helped buy spare parts for his motorcycle taxi and fish for resale.

Carlos's story

Carlos, 35 years old, is married to Margarita, and together they have two children, aged 9 and 4, and they all live together in their own home. Carlos has two lines of work. The first consists of carrying passengers inside and outside the city in his motorcycle taxi. Besides that, he also sells fish. In the morning, he goes to the port to buy and sell fish throughout various streets in the city. He's been doing this work for 8 years, and while he mostly works alone, when he needs extra help, he will hire temporary workers. He enjoys both his jobs, as he always has been connected to commerce and he really likes being in constant motion.

This will be his second loan with Kiva and he is grateful for the financial support that he has received to help him keep moving ahead. He is committed to paying his loan back on time. With the S/.1000 soles that he is requesting, he will purchase spare parts for his motorcycle taxi as the brake system and the electrical circuits are beginning to deteriorate, and he will also purchase fish at wholesale to continue with his sales business.
