Ruqaiya's story

Ruqaiya baji is the wife of M. Ashraf, and she has been living in the city of Riwind, Pakistan for the last 7 years. She owns a two-room, brick house. Additionally, she is the mother of four children: two sons and two daughters. Her sons work in a cotton factory; her elder daughter sews clothes; and her younger daughter is a teacher in a local school. Her husband, meanwhile, is a watchman at a factory.

Ruqaiya baji has a milk business, and she has been selling milk for the last 20 years. Notably, she successfully repaid her three previous loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute in Pakistan). Now, she is seeking another loan in order to buy a buffalo to expand her milk business.
