A loan of $775 helped to buy cosmetics and a display case.

Irma's story

Irma, 50, lives with her spouse and 19-year-old son in the south of the city. She has 13 years’ experience, since the year 2000, working independently in a beauty salon.

She completed her Bachelor’s in Physical Education and worked in this profession for several years but following her aptitude for beauty she started taking beauty courses and went into providing haircuts and scalp treatments. She has a locale of her own and a display case that must always be well-stocked to partially meet customer demand.

She currently works Monday to Sunday from 9 in the morning until 8 at night and her main customers live in the area where her beauty salon is located. She buys her supplies from suppliers that specialize in beauty products and pays cash.

Her goal for later on is to open a branch beauty salon and that her son completes university which is why she strives day to day in order to accomplish it.

Irma has applied for a Fundación Mario Santo Domingo Kiva loan, her first financing from this organization, in order to buy a display case and materials like cream, shampoo, nail polish, etc.
