Saloma is a widow. She has five children who live with her in Puntod, Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental. To earn a living, she sells fish in the market and in her community. She borrowed a loan of 6,000 PHP from Gata Daku MPC to buy more fish to sell. She is thankful to GDMPC for giving every small entrepreneur a chance to engage in business. She hopes to increase her income to improve her family’s standard of living, especially for her children.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
