A loan of $1,375 helped buy rice, meat, fish, and other goods.

Briceida Elizabeth's story

In the beach community of Portoviejo, the "1 de Diciembre" communal bank meets every 2 weeks. This place is known for its beautiful beaches that are visited by many Ecuadorian and foreign tourists. It's cuisine is very diverse and delicious.

Briseida lives here and is 28 years old. She is married and has a 3-year-old son with her husband. Her husband is a security guard.

Briseida has a restaurant with her mother where they sell lunches and all kinds of a la carte dishes according to the wishes of their customers. Most of them favor dishes with seafood. They work every day from 5:00 am to 4:00 pm. They have had their restaurant for 10 years and it has been going very well for them.

She will use this loan to buy rice, meat, fish, and other supplies for food preparation. She has been in a communal bank for more than 6 years and she likes it because the group is very close and responsible.

Her dream is to give her son the best life she can.
