A loan of $1,075 helped to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, and sunshades.

Patricia Amarilis's story

In the San Clemente resort in Portoviejo, the communal bank, 1 de Diciembre, meets every fifteen days. This place is known for its lovely beaches that are visited by many national and foreign tourists. Its gastronomy is greatly varied and delicious.

Patricia lives here. She is 31 years old and married. From this relationship she has three children who are 10, 8, and 4 years old. The two oldest study in school. Her husband makes a living fishing, and on occasion he also takes fares in a motorcycle taxi.

Patricia is a great housekeeper who, to obtain her own resources, works selling shoes and Yanabal products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and women’s accessories). Her mode of sale is door to door, and she works three days a week, some two to three hours each day, as well as when she has a few moments free. She leaves her products on credit and collects each week. On weekends, she and her husband rent seats and awnings to the tourists who arrive there. They have been working in this activity for 12 years, and it’s going very well for her.

This loan is to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics, and sunshades since the ones she has are damaged and she needs to update them. She has been with the communal bank for more than four years and she likes it because of the help that the loans provide her.

Her dream is to finish constructing her house since there is still much left to do.
