Pelayo's story

Pelayo is 44 years old and married to Urbana. They have three children and live in their own house. Initially, Pelayo made a living in agriculture but now he has a grocery store in the public market where he lives. He started his business with little merchandise as a test in a small establishment, but when he achieved good profits he converted it into his principal livelihood. He has the pleasure of offering his customers, mostly housewives and restaurant managers, a wide variety of fresh produce, as well as the provisions and grains that are most commonly consumed. He manages to achieve a good profit through these products. He feels very happy with how his business is developing, since his wife is responsible for attending to customers during peak hours and restocking the merchandise, in this manner ensuring a well-organized business. He has almost 24 years of experience in this field and through today he has been very motivated in achieving his long-term goals. This is his second loan with Kiva and he is grateful for the financial support he receives to move forward. Additionally he promises to make his payments on time. On this occasion, he would like 4,000 nuevos soles to buy wholesale merchandise such as rice, grains, fresh produce, sacks of potatoes, among other things to maintain a well-stocked business.
