Benkadi Ii Group's story

The members of the Benkadi 11 group are married women who are on average 41 years old with five children. They all live in polygamous families in Niaradougou, one of the villages in Sikasso, in the third administrative region of Mali.
They collaborate with the Soro Yiriwaso micro finance institution in order to manage their farming activities during the winter.
This is their fourth loan from the institution, the previous loans were repaid correctly.
Mrs. Salimata who is standing in the middle in the photo cultivates rice.
With the loan she plans to pay for labour, seeds and fertilizer for the upkeep of 0.5 hectares. She sells the crop in the village, at Sikasso after the harvest to men and women customers.
She hopes to make a profit of 75.000 francs CFA per field.
The profits will enable her to repay her loan and also help her husband with daily expenses.
