A loan of $725 helped to buy men, women, and children's clothing.

Maria's story

María, who is sixty years old, is a single mother of two children. She lives with them in a house they have been renting for many years. Thanks to her perseverance, she was able to raise her children.

María works in several businesses. Monday through Friday, she sells clothing in different styles, colors, and sizes to residents in her area. She works selling her items door to door, because she doesn't have a store or a specific place where she can be found. Her additional secret is selling clothing in the markets of nearby towns. In the future she hopes to rent a space downtown. And on the weekends she sells corn pudding in the large local market, where she obtains extra income. Since she knows that all efforts are rewarded, she keeps working tirelessly, because she wants to see her children become fulfilled and have aspirations.

She belongs to the communal bank IDME and this is her sixth loan through Kiva. She is grateful for the financial support she receives in order to move forward. She also promises to pay her installments on time. María will invest the 2,000 soles in purchasing several sacks of clothing for men, women, and children.
