A loan of $1,250 helped to buy cement, sand, nails, and other items.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda, age 55, lives with her husband and two children in their own home. Yolanda has an equipped and stocked hardware store. She says that her business is going very well. She opens her doors every day without a break. However, since she is a hard-working woman, she does not only do this job; she also sells food on Sundays in a space in her home. Her husband rents out heavy machinery to state institutions and private builders. This provides a monthly income which he uses to pay for their children's university education. They want to provide their children with a good education.
Yolanda wants to stock her store with all the materials possible. "There are days when big buyers arrive and they buy large quantities of cement and other materials, and I don't have enough", she says. This is her sixth loan on Kiva and she is grateful for the financial support that she is receiving to get ahead. She promises to repay her quotas punctually. Yolanda will invest the 3,500 soles in the purchase of sand, cement, nails, and other merchandise to stock her hardware store.
