A loan of $550 helped to purchase a small bull.

Saturnina's story

37-year-old Saturnina is married and lives with her three beautiful children in her mother-in-law’s house. Her courage and effort is reflected in her work. She makes a living from farming and ranching. She already has eight years of experience in this business and she likes to spend time in the countryside where she can raise her livestock. Her house is located in a rural area. Her work consists of purchasing animals, mostly cattle, which she fattens up for an average of four months before selling them in the farmers’ fair in the city, where she can obtain good profits. “I really like to negotiate, so if I do not get good offers, I delay selling the animal until a better time”, she says happily. She now wishes to improve her business and put more capital into agriculture. This is her third loan with Kiva. She is grateful for the financial support she receives to get ahead. She is committed to making her repayments on time. Saturnina will invest the 1,500 PEN in purchasing a small bull in order to improve her cattle.
