A loan of $725 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Maxima's story

Máxima is 62 years old, married to Rodrigo and has eight children all of whom are adults and independent. She and her husband live together in their own home. Máxima is a farmer and raises livestock. These activities have given her much satisfaction as well as having generated enough income to help educate her children, who now live in Lima. She has five milk cows, which produce an average of 35 liters of milk a day and when they have calves it goes up to 70 liters per day. The business of raising of animals goes well for her. Her secret is that she grows her own feed, alfalfa, which she gives to her cattle. "Also I give them balanced feed, I treat them for parasites and care for them a lot". At the same time she plants corn, peas and barley on her own and rented land, and she is very dedicated at taking care of them too.

This is her third loan with Kiva. Máxima will use the 2,000 PEN to buy organic fertilizer to nurture her crops. She is very grateful to have this financial backing and she has proven herself to be reliable in her repayments.
