The four members of KOTOGNOGONTALA Group are women averaging 39 years of age and three children. They live in monogamous families in Hamdallaye, a neighborhood in Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali.

They are seeking their twelfth loan from Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, in order to meet customer demand.

Mrs. Kadia is the woman standing on the right in the photograph. She sells medium-rich damask.

She intends to user her loan to buy 20 meters of medium-rich damask, that she will retail for cash at the Grand Market and at her home, to a clientele comprising both men and women.

She foresees turning an average monthly profit of XOF 32'500 (ca US$ 65). One part will be used to repay the loan and interest, and the other part will be put away.

Les quatre membres du groupe KOTOGNOGONTALA sont des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 39 ans, 3 enfants et vivant dans des familles monogamiques au quartier Hamdallaye de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles sont à leur douzième prêt avec l’institution de micro finance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle.
Mme KADIA 1 ere de la droite vers la gauche sur la photo fait le commerce de bazin moyen riche.
Elle compte acheter avec son prêt 20 mètres de bazin moyen riche qu’elle revendra en détail au grand marché ainsi qu’à la maison à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes au comptant.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 32 500 francs CFA dont une partie est utilisée pour payer le prêt et son interêt et l’autre pour son épargne.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
