A loan of $1,525 helped a member to buy secondhand clothing.

Danaya Group's story

The six members of DANAYA Group are women who average 40 years of age and three children. Most of them live in monogamous families in Hamdallaye, a neighborhood in Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali.

They are seeking their sixteenth loan from Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, in order to meet customer demand.

Mrs. Ami (sitting on the left) is selling secondhand clothing. She intends to use her loan to buy two bales of secondhand clothing, that she will retail for cash at the Grand Market and at her home, to a clientele comprising both men and women.

She intends to turn an average monthly profit of XOF 34'000 (ca US$ 78). One part will be used to repay the loan and interest, the remainder will be put away.
