Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $500 helped to buy foodstuffs and utensils.

Athman's story

Athman lives in Mombasa, Kenya. He is a married man with two children. He has been selling cooked food for the last three years and this is his full-time business. He has employed two people to help run the business and this has seen his business grow.

Athman learned about Milango through friends and now seeks a loan to buy foodstuffs and utensils for the business. The challenge in the business is that most people want to eat on credit and refuse to pay. The extra income that he will raise will help him pay school fees for his children.
