A loan of $1,100 helped to buy chickens and animal feed.

Mayra Alexandra's story

Mayra is a happy young woman who sees every day as another opportunity to get ahead. A year ago she joined the 'Las Triunfadoras' loan group. She lives in the parish of Paccha in Cuenca, a place that has a cool climate and beautiful landscapes. Thanks to its hilly geography, its lands are fertile and vegetables and fruits are grown there. Its people make a living by raising animals, still keeping their culture and traditions alive.

Mayra is 26 years old and is the single mother of two children aged 5 and 2. Her older son starts school this year. She doesn't have a house of her own so she lives with an aunt and they share the household expenses.

Mayra spends most of her time caring for her children, but in order to have an income she makes a living by raising and selling guinea pigs and chickens.

She will invest the money from her loan in buying chickens and food for all of her animals.

Her goal is for her children to study so that they become good professionals.
