A loan of $900 helped to buy agricultural supplies for her corn and bean crops.

Ely Maribel's story

Ely is a young woman of 24 years with a lot of strength, happiness and desire to get ahead. She believes in what her and her partner do every day. She learned from her parents about working the land from a very early age, especially the growing of basic grains like beans and corn. She is the mother of one child, who depends on her and does not yet attend school. She has a degree in Primary Education which she could finish thanks to the moral and financial support of her parents, to whom she is grateful for the teachings and discipline instilled in her when she was young.

Ely has requested a loan from COMIXMUL which she will use to buy agricultural supplies to help strengthen her crops and protect them from being invaded and damaged by insects, etc. She will sell her harvest to warehouses, stores and intermediaries who come to her area and then re-sell in other areas.

Her future plans are to fix up her house. The roof needs work on it and the walls have to be whitewashed to keep out the humidity and avoid respiratory diseases. Her priorities with her son is to give him an excellent education. And give him the opportunity and support to attend university, so he can be a well prepared, better person.
