A loan of $750 helped to buy agricultural inputs for her coffee plants.

Melitina's story

Ms. Melitina is 41 years old. She is a farmer and the at-home mother of 6 children, who live with her and her husband. She has an incomplete primary education, since she was only able to attend up to 3rd grade, since her parents had few resources and their income was only sufficient to cover the basics (food, clothing, etc.). She is accompanied by her husband who works as a security guard for a company. They have worked planting and cultivating coffee for several years. This is one of their sources of income to sustain the family, in addition to her husband's salary. After the harvest, the coffee beans are sold to various intermediaries and warehouses in the area.

She is requesting a loan from the COMIXMUL cooperative, with which she will buy 6 quintals of NutriCafé, 10 liters of foliar formula, 8 quintals of 18-46-0 fertilizer and 6 quintals of urea, to protect and fertilize her crops. She hopes to obtain a good income at the end of the harvest.

Her plans for the future are to be able to cultivate more coffee, since they own their land and it is favorable for growing coffee in this climate and this area. Her dream is to be able to give her children a good education, so that they will have many options and opportunities in life.
