Lidia's story

Lidia is 50 years old. She became a widow only four months ago and she works arduously to get her two children ahead. The days are still difficult but despite that she continues to work like she did 20 years ago, but now she works alone and she wants to maintain her crops in the best way possible. Her main crops are potatoes, peas, corn, and beans. What she likes the best is the tranquility of the fields and she continues to work arduously because she knows that the only allies she has are the difficult moments. Now she plants potatoes, which are growing satisfactorily. She says that they are flowering and she will harvest within three months and sell it in the main market in town. Her plans are to improve her harvest and provide stability to her family. This will be her fourth Kiva loan and she is grateful for the financial support so she can move ahead. She promises to make her payments on time. Lidia will use the S/ 3,800 from her loan to buy compost to feed her crops.
