A loan of $1,025 helped to buy potato seed.

Victoria Marcelina's story

Victoria is 44 years old, married, and has an elementary school education. She lives in Tiraque and has two children who depend on her for support. Victoria’s main business consists of farming, where she produces an annual average of: 90 bushels of potatoes, 70 bushes of green beans, 50 bushels of peas, 20 quintals or wheat grain, 12 quintals of ochre, and two truckloads of peas. She plants on her own 3 hectares of farmland located in her community, and also on other land that her parents gave her. Most of the land has pine and eucalyptus trees on it and part of it is farmland where she raises wheat and oats. There is irrigation on the land and she harvests with the help of farm workers to whom she pays Bs. 50. She lives in a rustic adobe house and needs this loan to buy potato seeds. Once harvested, she will improve her income and quality of life for her dependents.
