A loan of $1,000 helped to buy agricultural supplies for her chili, tomato, and granadilla crops.

Santos's story

Santos is a strong, hard-working, entrepreneurial woman with ambitions to get ahead. She completed primary school thanks to the financial support of her parents (despite their economic difficulties) and because there were a few schools in the area in which she grew up.

She is now 32 years old, she is the mother of 5 children, and she is married. Santos and her family engage in the different agricultural activities that people commonly do in the region. She also owns a small store that enables her to earn an income for her family and with which she helps her husband pay the daily household expenses.

She grows chili, tomato, and granadilla which her husband taught her to do, and her customers are her neighbors and friends. They come looking for her products because of their quality and the care she puts into harvesting and processing them.

Her future plans are to increase her crops and strengthen the example that she gives her children who have understood since they were small the value in hard, honest and transparent work.

Santos is seeking a loan which she will use to buy fertilizers, fungicide, herbicides, and other chemicals to protect her crops.
