Leang's story

Mr. Leang L., 38, and his wife, Mrs. Dy Choen, 35, who live on an island in the Mekong River about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh, married in 1990 and have six sons. One of their sons is a wooden house worker. Three of their sons are in local school.

Leang is a truck driver. He carries goods and other materials from one province to another province. His wife has been selling grocery items for ten years. She buys them from a market in Phnom Penh for resale at her shop in the village. Recently Leang's truck broke and they lack the money to fix it so that he can continue his business. So, Leang is requesting a loan of US$ 1200 to repair his truck.
