A loan of $600 helped to buy materials for decoration.

Njina's story

Njina is thirty-five years old and has four children and one dependent. Her children are aged 19,12, 2 and 1. The additional dependent is an orphan to whom she decided to give support in the form of supplying basic needs. Njina is in a decoration business that she has operated for the last 13 years. She started the business so she would be able to sustain herself and care for the needs of her children. She spends an average of five hours per day running the decoration business, and when she is off she works in her restaurant, which is her other source of income. Her main purpose of acquiring the UGAFODE loan is to buy materials for decoration. She operates her business in Ishaka and her customers are people from Ishaka and Bushenyi who call upon her to decorate whenever they have special functions. Njina says her major challenge is poor profits, since the profit is sometimes negatively affected by the clients who make partial payment and then default on the balance. She is determined and ready to work on, despite the challenges involved.
