Horonya 4 Group's story

The ten women of Horonya 4 are all married in traditional families. They are on average 42 years old and have four children. They all live in the Kondia village in the Ségou region (4th administratrive region of Mali). They know each other from their winter farming, their neighborhood connections, their marriages, and through family in the village. They farm peanuts, millet, and rice. In the goal of buying small equipment and agricultural resources, the group members went to Soro Yiriwaso and are on their 3rd loan. Mrs. Kadia (3rd seated woman in the middle of the photo) is a leading winter farmer in the village of Kondia. She plans to use her loan to plow her field, to buy seed and fertilizer, and to pay young workers to weed her field. She sells her products for cash at the end of the winter to repay her loan and to be able to save up to pay the expenses of her children and her family.

In this group: Kadia, Baya, Aminata, Kadiatou, Salimata, Nadjè, Mamou, Satan, Niakoro, Assanatou
