A loan of $1,000 helped to buy more seafood from the fishermen.

Carlos Ernesto's story

Carlos is 31 years old, and has completed third grade of primary school. He has two children. He and the woman who shares his life have both been fishermen for ten years, and they sell their catch as well as what they buy from other local fishermen to restaurants in the coastal area. They work very early in the day. They have had a small grocery shop for five years, located in their house. This helps them with household expenses. Carlos's partner also raises cattle. The loan Carlos asks for is to buy more seafood to fishermen, in order to fulfil all the orders from his customers and thus improve his sales. His goal is to buy a vehicle in order to deliver the seafood himself. He hopes to give his children the opportunity to have a good education.
