A loan of $2,150 helped a member to pay school fees for his children.

Moiwa Bockarie Group's story

Pictured here are teachers of a primary school located in Koidu, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of SLL 9,300,000 for the entire group. The loan will help them to meet their most immediate and most pressing financial needs. And at the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. It is their school’s bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Moiwa is the featured leader of this group of teachers. The 42-year-old is a native of Panguma, in eastern Sierra Leone. He is married to another teacher, and the couple has two children who are attending primary and secondary schools. Moiwa is a school teacher and has been in the teaching profession for 23 years, now. He has requested this loan in order to pay school fees for his children.
