A loan of $925 helped a member to purchase farm inputs and seeds.

Sabougnouma 2 Group's story

The members of the group "SABOUGNOUMA 2" are married women, who average 33 years of age and five children each, all living in polygamous families in NAGNASSONI, a village in SIKASSO, the 3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali. The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their farm work during the rainy season. They are on their third farm loan with the institution. The past loans were indeed paid back.

The crop grown is sorghum, as is the case with WARABA, who is standing in the middle in the photo. With her loan, she intends to purchase seeds and farm inputs to maintain 1.5 hectares. After the harvest, the produce is sold to a customer base composed of men and women in the village in SIKASSO.

She plans on making a profit of 70,000 francs CFA per planting. This profit will enable her to pay back her loan and also to help her husband to cover day-to-day expenses.

In this group: Nachata, Djeneba, Waraba, Niatio, Nassoun Solo, Tene, Mafini, Assa, Afou, Diatou
