A loan of $525 helped a member to purchase fertilizer.

Benkadi Ii Group's story

The ten members of the Benkadi II group are married women with an average age of 40 years and four children, all living in traditional families in Missanso, one of the villages in Sikasso, the 3rd administrative region of Mali. They work with Kiva field partner Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their agricultural activities during the rainy season. This is the group's sixth agricultural loan with this institution, and all past loans have been repaid. The group uses the funds to grow peanuts, corn and peppers.

Ms. Gnire is standing up on the far right of the photo. With this loan, she intends to buy fertilizer to maintain one hectare of farmland. After the harvest, her crops will be sold in the village and at the market to male and female customers. Gnire expects to make a profit of 85,000 FCFA per season, which will allow her to repay her loan and help her husband with their daily expenses.
