Fallah's story

Please meet 35-year-old Fallah from St. Paul in Liberia. St. Paul is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for its fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find its residents living in sub-standard housing.

Fallah did not attend grade school, but he attended vocational school where he learned how to do furniture. He is married. His wife stays at home. He has two children ages 12 and 17. His children are in school and they all live at home.

Fallah owns his own shop in which he fixes and sells beds, chairs, arm-chairs, and other furniture, and has done this for the past nine years. He will use the loan proceeds to purchase wood and other furniture materials for his business. On average, he works 10 hours per day at his business. He started his business with money from his father. He transports his wood by truck. He cites the rainy season as his biggest challenge. His favorite part of his business is it is in in a good location. In the future, he would like to build a house and open another shop. He thanks you in advanced for your support!
