PUCALLPA, Peru / Fish Selling

A loan of $550 helped to buy fish wholesale.

Gloria's story

Gloria, 42, is a single mother and has four children, ages 26, 23, 19 and 15, who live with her in her own house. She sells fresh fish for a living and her work day begins in the early hours in her town's fishing port. She buys fish directly from the wholesale fishermen, and then sells it at her stand in the busy market. Over three years ago she started her business with her own money; and seeing that it was an easy job with considerable demand, she decided to work full time developing her business. Since then she has maintained her initial investment.

Before starting her business she had economic problems after divorcing her children's father and needed to earn an income. Since she earns a good profit she wants to expand and increase her capital. She is requesting a loan of 1,500 PEN and is grateful for the opportunity of receiving financial support to develop her plan. She is committed to paying back the loan on time. The loan will be used to buy fish wholesale.
